Online Gaming?

Featured Replies

Just thought I would ask the question to see if anyone here is into online gaming. I am currently playing Battlefield 4 and also play fairly competitively in ESL (Electronic Sports League). Don't seem to play as much now as I used to. What are you guys playing? What is your current setup?

My current set up is:

Custom Case

Arctic Pro 750W Power Supply

Gigabyte Z87 Gaming Motherboard

Liquid Cooled

Intel Core i7 4770K 3.50Ghz Overclocked @ 4.2Ghz

16GB DDR3 Kingston HyperX Memory @ 1800Mhz

Samsung 840EVO Solid State Hard Drive 240GB

KFA2 Nvidia GTX 660Ti 2GB Graphics Card

Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit

Acer 27" Monitor 1920x1080

Virgin Media Fibre Broadband 152Mb Download / 12Mb Upload

More of a racer myself. LFS, Rfactor, Assetto Corsa etc. Currently running in a league over at touringproseries.com  All races broadcast with commentary team.

Rig consists of:

Corsair 750W modular PSU
MSI 990FX motherboard
AMD FX6300 CPU
8GB DDR......erm, forgotten the speed!! 1600 i think.
AMD HD7970
Samsung 840Evo 256gb SSD
Seagate 1TB HHD
Win 7 64bit

10+ year old flat screen in a weird 16:10 format (means playing in 1440x900 which is a bit of a pain)
And a G27 from Romania (long story)

I used to have a really good rig but sold it and purchased an Macbook Pro which seems to be doing a good job!

My only issue with the Mac is it gets super hot during gaming :/

The only MMOG I play right now is War Thunder a WW2 Plane and tank game.

I've recently bought up Skyrim and Bioshock series on Steam deals. I've a moderate setup but ot works for me. Can't even remember most of it.

i3 2100

8Gb DDR3

Tb hd

500w psu

ATI 6850hd 1Gb gfx

22" Samsung full hd TV

It's a budget setup but I've not really found much it can't handle. If I had cash I'd probably drop in an i5 a 3Gb Gfx card and an SSD.

About the only gaming I do is iRacing.

I'm currently redecorating to make room for one of these:

GT%20Omega%20PRO%20Supreme%20Red%202-500

BF4, Fifa online, Dota (occasionally), lots of other bits and bobs.

Just about anything really... Don't get much time any more but there we go.

Rfactor2  and  asseto Corse , AC has better graphics but cant get near RF2 for realism

i5 2500k oc @4.5 and watercooled

Z68 gigabyte mother board

8 gig ram

Nvidia GTX770 2 gig

Corsair 650 psu

Samsung pro ssd for os

Velociraptor for progs

Gameracer pro chair with Fanatec CSR elite wheels and pedals

I upgraded my PC primarily for video editing which conveniently added a bit of gaming horsepower, I think PC gaming has really improved over the last couple of years with most games working out of the box with no issue even doing a great job choosing the right performance settings and native support for 360 controllers.  I've been trying the big picture mode and using a PC as a console with the current consoles being such a disappointment although I think there's still a bit of progress to be made.  I'm annoyingly hooked on Destiny but should be free of it soon with Activision being determined to ruin it and hopefully get back into Borderlands ;)

Main PC:

Intel i7 3930k @4.2Ghz

Dual AMD 6950's

8GB ram

Samsung 830 128GB HD
Hitachi 4TB HD

Two Samsung 2TB HD's

Two BD-ROM drives

Dell 27in 2560x1440 monitor

Console PC:

Intel i3 4130

Nvidia GTX 760

6GB ram

1TB HD

Despite the difference in spec I'm surprised how good the lower powered PC is, manages 1080p fine and even 4K is playable on some of the older Unreal based games (UT3, Mortak Kombat).  While the i3's are usually pretty poor in laptops, the desktop version is pretty good for the price - no turbo mode but it has a high 3.4Ghz base speed and gaming performance seems little different for a single graphics card against more powerful cpu's in many cases.   I just wish Steam would allow additional PC's to pull their content from another one on the network, I have a server with Steam on it and use it to download the content then install it on the PC's as required which you have to do manually through shares.  I was hoping when they added the streaming they would also add the ability for other Steam clients to pull the data over as well since they can now detect each other and all remain online.

On a similar note, Steam family sharing is now rolled out as standard and means you can share your Steam library - I set it up on my brother's PC and surprisingly it seems to work well, I haven't even noticed him with the games library yet so it's great he can benefit from my games.

Recently got an Xbone after my 360 died a death.  It's the same thing really - childishly excited about FarCry 4 coming out next week...

Used to play a lot of CS:Source in a couple of leagues. I was the weak link in the team but some of the guys were damn good (I unwittingly drew them out for the others to shoot).

I'm sure my characters outfit had a neon target on it!
