Monte Carlo DRL bulbs

Featured Replies

Picked up my Monte the other day and I'm looking to change the DRL bulbs to a crisp white LED bulb but cant find what type bulb they are ?

Can someone point me in the right direction or any recommendations ?

Thanks

P21W bulbs are whats needed.

I had Cree bulbs in mine, and normal LED style ones

Ended up going to MTEC P21w Super White Xenon Bulbs, gave a good white light, and filled the DRL rather than fairly directional

CREE are nice and white but yes, they are pretty directional as they are normally behind a projector lens at the end of the bulb. I have 80w CREE units in mine, there are 4 chips forward facing and 12 around the sides making use of the reflector in the DRL unit, not cheap though!

I have a sneaky suspicion I have the exact same ones as yourself. I got mine last year and they were around £40.

They haven't come down in price! Worth it I think though. Yours still going strong?

CREE bulbs look good, pricey though.

Anyone had any problems with them ? Long lasting ?

I've had one bulb that didn't last long, 6 months but I contacted the seller as they came with a guarantee and had it replaced. Never had an issue with error codes and I have CREE in the DRL, side lights and number plate plus my interior bulbs are CREE too.

Did you get any errors? Cos they're not error canbus are they?

They are just standard filament type bulbs iirc so wouldn't need resistors built in.

Yeh they are still the same as far as I'm aware, no change in brightness and no flickering. Definitely worth the extra £££.

Didn't have any errors, and the Cree and LEDs didn't say anything about being canbus safe either.

LEDs just hot spotted to much I found, the MTEC bulbs were my favourite by far!

If you don't want to spend silly money try eBay item number:

At this price you can throw then away if you don't like them.

wow they're cheap, getting some now lol

Sidelights I have found are very hit and miss when it comes to flickering and error lights. I fitted some CREE units to mine which showed a warning light and some led's that flickered so its a game of chance. Sorry u can't be of more use. I have a set of Samsung LED's in mine now with no problems, can't find the link though.

I see.. But i definitely need canbus error free ones if they are Leds and are for the outside and not internal lighting?

I would say so and tbh the prices are not much different, I tend to buy cheap when it comes to sidelights and take my chances. I think Otaylor38 has a decent set in his motor, they match his HID bulbs too.

I have these from eBay - item number 370803310883

I didn't realise they weren't canbus free, and I didn't pay that much either.
