A Possible Return To Skoda

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have previously had a Mk1 Fabia Tdi Bohemia which was followed by a Roomster Tdi SE.

Having traded that in a year ago for a Nissan Leaf we may soon be in a position where we need a second car. Don't get me wrong, I love the Leaf and it is great for 95% of our needs but as we are looking at a second car it makes sense to get one that can cover the other 5% also,

My Mk1 Fabia Estate remains one of the best cars I ever had and as a result I would seriously consider getting another. My question is this, why should I choose a Mk1 Tdi over a Mk2 Tdi or vise versa?

I have seen a couple that have caught my eye one being a Mk1 57reg Tdi Bohemia with 64k on the clock for £4.5k or a Mk2 08reg Tdi 3 Spec for £5.5k with slightly less miles.

What are the pros and cons of each? Your advice is welcome!

Thanks,

Hi, we still own a 07 mk1 tdi 1.9 and recently upgraded to an octy estate replacing a mk11 fabia, the mk1 has a 'better build quality feel' overall compared to the mk11 which also lost the heated front seats, when I looked for an estate too be honest because I ''wanted a mk1 fabia, which was almost impossible to find I plumped for the octavia, which again in my view has a better build 'feel' than our mk11 fabia.....

disclaimer........ I've now had 4 skoda's none have been or had any issues in all fairness, my own preference would be for an as late as possible mk1 fabia 1.9 tdi elegence estate.............. but the slight increase in mpg balanced by the extra space makes the octy giving the fabia a very close run and I don't regret my decission to buy one

hope the above helps

I might also be being offered my Dad's 62reg Fabia 1.6tdi Elegance estate at a family rate. So something else to consider.

We looked at many Mk2 fabias to replace our 2001 Fabia TDI Elegance The missus didnt like the shape and I thought they didnt drive as well and as has previously been said the build quality didnt seem as good as well as all the standard features of the elegance becoming optional extras on the later ones. We ended up opting for a 2007 Mk1 VRS SE and although I never wanted a VRS just a practical car as  I am not young anymore I think the car is great and she loves the colour...lol.... Bear in mind the MK3 is now out and looks more like a Mk1 to me than a MK2!!
