Mot Failed On Emmissions Badly

Featured Replies

Hello I have a skoda felicia fun 2000 reg 1.6 petrol 83000 miles took it for mot on Monday and it failed the emmisions local garage said its readings where that high the machine couldn't read it failed on

Carbon monoxide at idle excessive

Carbon monoxide after 2nd fast idle excessive

Hydrocarbon content after 2nd fast idle excessive

Lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits

The pickup doesn't idle we'll at cold and cuts out could this be linked what could be causing the emissions to be like this there is other work to be done but can do this myself (Just about with Haynes manual) as much as I don't want to do I just get rid as seem to be slowly spending a small fortune

Any help would be great thank you

What were the actual figures from the emissions test?

The pickup doesn't idle we'll at cold and cuts out could this be linked

110% yes of course. Although emissions are measured when the engine is fully warmed up.

Would I be able to get a copy of the results tomorrow if garages keep them

normally they come out on a till receipt sized piece of paper, most garages will staple this to the failure sheet

No all I had was the mot failure ticket. mechanic wasn't much help to be honest said it could be lambda cat or engine could be knackered don't think he cared much and inspected properly as I no back seats dont lock into place when pulled out surely that's a fail to

How did you reset the throttle body after cleaning it?

Didn't no I had to reset it lol like. I'm not the best think I should give up on trying to sort things I no nothing about

True. Some things are not easy to fix. You need to find a mechanic that has a VAG-COM scanner or a Briskoda member that lives nearby, has the knowledge and could help.
