Why No 4S?

Featured Replies

Just noticed that Vredstein have released the new Snowtrac tyre, the replacement for the Snowtrac 3... the Snowtrac 5.

Continental Sport Contact 2...3...5.

I know the number 4 is unlucky in China, but these are European brands and I suspect their sales are very limited in China, where they could just rebrand them anyway.

So, anyone else know why there are no 'Snowtrac 4s', 'Sport Contact 4s' etc?

Don't know but I love the SC5s on the Clio :)

You already hit the nail on the head.

Uniroyal (part of Continental AG Group) had little to no success in the far East with the "Rallye 440" tyre. They looked further and as you rightly said, the number 4 is considered unlucky in many cultures in that part of the world.

Continental said that they learnt from this mistake and this is why the numbering jumped from 3 to 5.
