I realise this is now an old thread and presume you're sorted now Monkeyboyo but for the benefit of anyone else reading this thread the flashing glowplug light on a VAG diesel can indicate that you just need new brake light bulbs.

Thanks for the info. Glowplug light didn't reappear after reset by Kev (Stargixxer) 1 month ago.

Today, car unresponsive on Mway (no warning lights). Crawled 40mph to rest area.Switched off, waited, restarted and back to normal.

Throttle position sensor presumably, as suggested by Kev's VCDS

 

Anyone able to recommed a trusted mechanic in Edinburgh?.
