Dreaded Sat Nav Problem

Featured Replies

Hi all i think ive the dreaded regensburg problem, so after searching i know roughly what to do however i cannot get firmware/sat nav serial numbers up on dash using holding keys down method, so i dont know what version is compatable, i popped in to c my mate at vw but when plugged in couldnt communicate with sat nav, now i know theres a list of people around with vcds but anyone point me in direction or anyone able to help around southampton/portsmouth area cheers all

Remove the trim around the sat nav and heater dials. There is 4 torx screws holding it in. You will find a white label like below copy the numbers onto here and someone will know

Can't communicate with the sat nav doesn't sound good. I would be very cautious of throwing firmwares at the unit mate, it sounds like it's just hanging on to life at the moment. Has anything happened which could cause this issue, like a flat battery, any electrical gremlins, any work done to the car recently?

Right numbers are, 3t0 035 680A, hw h2, SW 2724, Rustynuts no work done at all just driving 1 eve and noticed in Germany, it has then switched back to UK albeit 3miles out but now its gone back to Germany, everything else seems to work. It looks like I need firmware 2760 but people are saying don't use on A unit. As for communicating the vw computer would only pick up limited options but was told prior to this that the VW computers don't pick up all skoda, cheers all

I would check with VCDS to see if it can be communicated with first. If it can then things aren't too bad. If you can't get into the unit with VCDS then it sounds like the gateway connection in the unit (not in the car) is gone and that wouldn't be saved with a firmware update usually. The update would go through everything else and then fail at the final stage which would then mean your unit had a failed/incomplete firmware on it and wouldn't work correctly. If you can communicate with it via VCDS then you could go for an update and see if it cures the problem. However, firmwares on a dying unit are often fatal rather than breathing life back into it.
