Jailed, The Brands Hatch Rogue Driver.

Featured Replies

Funnily enough Brands Hatch is a lot tighter on security in and around the pits now. I was there last week for a open pit session and the marshals won't allow anyone out of the pit lane, to the track, without having checked that crash lids are on and that also each person in the car is wearing the relevant driver/ passenger wrist band. They're also now very tight on keeping pit doors closed when vacant or not needed.

Glad to hear it. The circuit need to bear their share of responsibility for the incident and take steps to avoid a repeat. :-)

Agreed. They should of taken that as a nudge to up the game.

Luckily nobody was hurt.

Shoulda taken the m135 on mate. "And whats this coming through overtaking the weird lookin track racin car thingys"

No idea how powerful those things are tbh. Other than theyre faster than that polo.

it was due to his lack of remorse that the judge give him 8 months, maybe if he dropped the cocky attitude in court he would have got off with a slap on the wrist.

Whilst being a stupid thing to do its hard not to find it amusing.

True that mate.

True that mate.

You can tell just by looking at him he thinks he is "one of the boys". Them only way is essex look will get him a ripped bum hole for the next 4 months at least.

Yep, always awkward that one. Bit of a tumbleweed moment when you step forward to collect your prize tho lol

Well apparently its dangerous because of differentials in speed.

I like your logic! Get the bike on there mate and show 'em how it's done. If they try to stop you then go all "Road Rash" on them lol

Sentencing is based on the seriousness of the offence, and offence and personal mitigation

I don't think the Court of Appeal would uphold a sentence founded upon the defendant "being a bit cocky"

True, they would be Professional and look at the facts, putting any personal dislike of how the defendant presents himself to one side I'd imagine.

Aha could do, but I'm not enough of a tit im afraid haha.

I'd be more afraid of a chav in a Mk1 Fabia vRS racing a Corsa on a public road

Agree, just not worth it. I wouldn't have the nerve!

What was nice was that there was clear evidence first from in car camera filming posted on Social Media,

& Professional Filming of the Race.

So bang to rights,

as is more and more the Case on the Public Highway or not.  You film or get filmed and it reaches the attention of a wider public.

as many a Mk1 Fabia racing a Corsa on the Public Highway is finding out.

The Offences in this thread were not on the Public Highway.

Abit like dash cams I suppose - they may be helpful or indeed come back to haunt you!

The very reason i havent got a helmet cam.

I want one. But i want it to magically disappear if i get pulled over haha.

some clown invented speed limits.

Astute as ever, George  ;)

Relevant though is it not.?

Sentencing hardly can be compared to a driver on a public highway.

Or previous cases of a Plonker taking someones car onto a Live Race Track at the endangerment to life of

innocent passengers & other people.

Or even physical violence in a house or on the street,

or burglary.

Well unless it is being filmed and showing clearly what happened.

I don't think the Court of Appeal would uphold a sentence founded upon the defendant "being a bit cocky"

"His idiotic and selfish behaviour - aggravated by his unrepentant attitude in subsequent media coverage - received much immediate condemnation," he added.

"His idiotic and selfish behaviour - aggravated by his unrepentant attitude in subsequent media coverage - received much immediate condemnation," he added.

And?

The maker of the above statement was no less than one Jonathan Palmer, the boss of the very same organisation who run Brands Hatch, whose security is so lax that a visiting member of the public can get access to the race area............pretty embarassing don't you think?

The sentencing judge was dealing with the person in front of him, not on the basis of media coverage, and it certainly wouldn't have made the difference between a "slap on the wrists" (your words), and a 8 month custodial sentence
