Jailed, The Brands Hatch Rogue Driver.

Relevant though is it not.?

Strangely enough, I was aware that it actually took place on a race track

I was pointing out that a driver (I just happened to use a Mk1 Fabia vRS as an example vehicle) on a public road, racing another vehicle (eg a Corsa), is likely to cause more risk of a danger to life and limb of other persons than the danger caused by this idiot on a race track

True, he shouldn't have been there, true, he'd be travelling a bit slower than the cars in the race, but a stricken race car with an engine problem, for example, would present a similar hazard to other race cars, and they would be expected to avoid it, not run up its @rse

Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning his actions in any shape or form, just pointing out why I, personally, do not believe that a custodial sentence of that length is warranted

But will he come out a chastened man and reformed character?

More likely he'll come out as unemployable and will live his life on benefits provided by.........oh yes, us

Unless Jonathan Palmer gives him a job in advertising at MSV

Have I missed someone in a Fabia racing a Corsa?

I was, the actual thread was a Mk1 Fabia vRS racing a Mk2 Octavia vRS out of a petrol station......strangely enough it got closed

Deserves at least 6 months for the Ali g talk

And another 6 for the ridiculous bumfluff.

The sentence does seem a little harsh to me too. One moment of reckless youthful stupidity is going to haunt him and blight his life for years to come. His employability has just taken a major nosedive with a jail term on his CV......

He was a labourer.

Hardly something you need a clean CRB check for.

I fail to see how it effects his low level employment prospects going forwards.

If he was a government paper pusher or a nursery assistant I'd agree.

To be fair. I doubt hes very productive at work anyway, with that kind of mentality.

I bet hes the one thats always doing jokes. Putting a stanley knife through the bag of cement when somebodys carrying it etc etc.

Actually, if you are working for a council approved contractor that does work in Schools, colleges and

institutions for the vulnerable then CRB checks are done these days much like in your line of business.

The last company I worked for did enhanced checks on ALL site staff as we did local authority work.

Agreed.

But having something on there isn't an issue.

It's having the wrong type of thing on there that's an issue.

I doubt having a public nuisance offence for driving onto a race track will mean you can't work in general proximity to children.

Oh yeah I know, depends on the company though, some

will just get rid of blokes with records just to be certain. .

None of my 'back catalogue' and 'greatest hits' ever stopped me though.

Employers really need to read CRBs than dismiss anything on them and write the person off.

Not letting a 50 year old do a job because they stole a packet of fags 30 years ago is quite frankly ridiculous.

My last firm used it as an excuse to get rid of a few staff when it became

apparent that some hadn't declared any convictions when starting with the firm

but had offences less than 10 years old but with conviction dates before employment started.

ie Current declarable criminal record. The first thing they did is pulled all the application forms

and cross referenced. My indiscretions did come up on the search but were over 10 years old

so not obliged to disclose at application form level anymore. (With certain obvious exceptions of course.)

Those that lied and were found out were canned instantly, but the firm was heading into the downturn

and needed to lose some bodies anyway. Perfect excuse.

A few other blokes just left when word got round they were going to check everybody.

Knowing a few of them personally at work I shudder to think what they might have done to just

leave the job like that rather than be checked...

Anyway back OT the kid is an idiot. Pretty boys like him always have a lovely time in prison ;)

He'll be someones new toy for a few months with any luck. See how he likes an unwanted visitor

doing circuits of his ring....

Think he will have a bitchin time inside or should that be someone will have a bitchin time with his insides? :moon:

True, but I didn't say he was unemployable as a result- just that it might affect his future prospects.

He might be content to stay in a 'low level' job forever and thinks he doesn't give a sh$t right now but one day he might grow up and have a different view. Who knows.

Anyway I do like to sometimes play devils advocate ;-)

I do agree, but if there were 2 people with similar experience, skill etc etc. one with this on record and the other with a clean record, it wouldn't take much choosing between would it lol.

As i understand, theres loads n loads of people after low skilled labouring jobs.

So he might lose out because of this.

Whilst being a stupid thing to do its hard not to find it amusing.

The idea/concept, yep. Having watched the vid, though having been indoctrinated by the Beeb first, him and his mate come across as utter idiots. OK on a mountain bike at 13-16, not OK in a car with passengers at 20.
