VRS dilema- thoughts needed :)

Picked the car up yesterday (pictures to follow when I get to see it in daylight).

Was quite pleased when I turned up as they'd serviced it and MOT'd it and it had been well valeted.

Unfortunately didnt get much chance to really get a feel for it on the way home, but first impressions are that it feels like a very different car to my old VRS.

ie

Feels like a bigger car (my wife said the same without prompting)

I think the DSG changes the nature of the car slightly from the manual, in D it's certainly very quick but functionally quick rather than excitingly quick like the manual and you still end up with the old Auto issue of being in the wrong gear when you go to accelerate out of a corner (but of course that's why you have S and the paddles). Changing to S makes things more interesting but still not as engaging as the manual.

However, big plus is that in D it's much less thirsty than the old car, where I would have seen under 30 (and quite possibly less than 26) on the way home lastnight I ended up at about 32

Going to get some Michelin Pilot sports fitted at the weekend which I think should give me a little more confidence in the car compared to the Chinese ditchfinders It's currently got fitted.
