I think you have a problem, my elegance starts and keeps running, the ss doesn't kick in until the engine has got some warmth into it

Forgot to say it's a diesel and this morning before it started it ran for a second then cut out then before I could touch the key to try again the engine started to turn over again on its own clutch pedal was still depressed like it was something to do with the start stop system but the start stop isn't meant to activate untill the engine reaches a certain temperature according to the handbook

Try and video it - sod's law it won't happen when you take it to the dealer to check out.

Sounds like a fault to me. Does it run OK when it's warmed up?

Try turning off the start stop system and see if it still happens.  If it does not, then its a problem with the start stop.  If it does, then its another issue.

Try starting it by turning the key to position 3 and releasing immediately. The starter will kick in a few seconds later when the glowplugs have warmed up. Don't hold the key in position 3.

I always do this as a matter of course and it is indeed the best way IMO.  I noticed the brake lights stay on until the engine fires up even if you only dab the brake pedal briefly.  Must be another safety device.
