Drivers door lock fault showing on VCDS - common fault ?

Featured Replies

Hi All, I did a scan today and VCDS is showing fault code 00928 - locking module fo central locking, front drivers side (f220), 008 implausible signal, looking on forums there are a lot of problems with VW group locks with repair kits available, are there any common faults people are finding, eg - is it a microswitch inside the unit ? one repair kit has a spring and some clips etc or is it just a build up of muck inside ? cheers - Stuart

I get that code of I run the scan with the door open. If I clear it and do it with the cable through the window, I don't get it.

Hi metblackrat, I can clear the fault and then if I open and close the door inc locking the code returns, looking on ebay and youtube there are loads of problems with VW group locks with spare parts listed, I stripped down the door yesterday and checked continuity of the cables through the door hinge and they were OK so it's looking like the door lock itself. Cheers - Stuart

Hi All, I did a search for this problem and found nothing within briskoda, so I did a search on google and it came up with a large post in our Ocy 1 section so it is a common problem which looks as though it affects the Ocy 2 as well, so it looks like I will be stripping the door down to access the lock mechanism, it looks as though a microswitch goes faulty, so I will have a go hopefully next week if the weather is good, VCDS picked up the problem but I haven't noticed anything different so I will go and have a look now. I will update soon - cheers - Stuart

I have a similar sort of problem in that the door open dash light comes on briefly when the rear wiper sweeps sometimes, and the alarm goes off at random when the car is parked. Just started doing it this week. Not sure if it's a duff earth, a duff switch or a duff battery in the siren unit. My gut feeling is a problem with the tailgate switch (it's an estate) but I don't know where to start looking, and I don't have a status reader cable (although one of those will be on the shopping list pretty quick).
