Recall - oil filter seal

Featured Replies

Just had an interesting call from my dealer, recalling the car to check the oil filter to engine connection. Apparently a very few have had problems there recently and there is an update available.

(While it is there, next Monday,  I will get them to check for the loose wheel nut problem).

Hi what engine do you have?

1.4 TSI

Car just gone in for the recall. Getting it back after lunch today.

Apparently it is to do with the threads not being sufficient for the job, on some examples.

Anyone else had this recall?

Not had this one as yet Ed, when was yours registred, mine is 03/14.  Since an initial 1 litre of oil at 5K miles (due to rether firm running-in) my oil level is pretty well, level, hardly using any.

Had you noticed any oil loss/use ?

No, I hadn't noticed any oil loss - only checked it once, just after delivery and it was well full!

Recall visit is result of an out-of-the-blue phone call from dealer. Today he said it had so far only shown up on a few cars but they were checking all they could get hold of.

Mine registered about Oct. 20th 2014

I'll give my dealer a call, find out what they know.

Got it back - they are doing the changes regardless of what it looks like apparently - a "just in case".  Still, they also gave it a nice wash and brush up!!

The recall goes under the code of 17F5
