Columbus Gps incorrect position

Featured Replies

Hi. My gps in the columbus navigator looses position and could be showing the cars position out by a few hundred metres to hundreds of miles. There doesn't seem to be any reset option in the system. It makes the system useless as it is wrong more often than not. I have no idea why it doesn't locate correctly or indeed why it gets it perfectly other times. Anyone else have this issue and manage to figure it out? I have a 2009 Octaves. Thanks

With the navigation on press the 'Navigation' button to go to split screen mode.

At the top of the new window is a title bar, press that. Scroll down the list to the bottom item, 'GPS info' I think. Press that and you'll be able to see if your GPS antenna is actually picking up satellites reliably.

This will help trouble shoot when you are having issues.

PS: it is always slightly behind your actual position when driving.

Hi, I have the same problem, when I am in Plymouth, it shows a map of the Bodmin area in Cornwall.  Mine is a 2009 Superb Elegance.  The GPS antenna did the same a couple of years ago, but I was lucky then as it was still under warranty.  Obviously it has failed again.  Apparently this is a common fault.  My local skoda dealer has quoted £350 including VAT, I suppose most of that is the labour for taking down and replacing the headlining, not a DIY job without the right tools!  This weekend I am taking it to a car radio specialist who do a diagnostic check for £49.95 and attempt to cure it in that price, but if it is the antenna they fit an alternative and put the receiver behind the rear view mirro, or somwhere inconspicuous where it can 'see' the satellites, cost about £40.
