DAB Radio

Featured Replies

Just had a look on the Skoda website, Citigo configurator (that's not even a real English word!), and DAB Radio is an option.

Anyone know if this can be retrofitted??

Deffo on my wish list.

I have had the DAB fitted to My Black Edition, very good!!!!!!!! It's the Pure Highway.

The Black Edition was advertised as having this as standard but this was a marketing error! Sent an email to Skoda Customer Services to ask their opinion whether I had been misold, they fitted it FOC.

I'm curious; the Pure Highway is an after-market addition - what aerial have they used? How neat is it? Any pictures of the installation?

I'm hoping for a new head unit and proper DAB roof aerial.

Its a screen ariel, fitted to the passenger side of the front screen, (don't even notice it anymore), small detachable unit mounted on dash! I'll take pics and upload tomorrow,! Nothing else visible. As per the Skoda accessories catalogue!

So, the one in the UP is a third party accessory, and not built into the radio?

You can get an OEM DAB+ radio for the Up!, so that must be an option for the Citigo as well. If not now, then soon!

The Pure Highway is now a very old design and newer types perform much better. However if you can fit a "proper"aerial it will perform a lot better. Be aware that there are a number of places in the UK where DAB reception is non-existent. North Wales is one such place.

I have been using the Pure Highway for 5 years in three different cars and where reception is good it is very good.

You can get an OEM DAB/FM roof antenna for Up/Citigo now.

I see what you mean, and if it's been corrected then it's still a very discreet (small print) at the very bottom of the page........ * Excluding Citigo

If anyone has bought a Citigo before mid October, challenge Skoda UK over the DAB radio!!

How did you go about it buddy?

I used the customer service email system on the UK web site and outlined the media campaign highlighting that it promotes that ALL black Edition vehicles have DAB as standard!!!!! Worked for me!!

New to the forum and just read this thread. I thought about this but as I connect my iPhone to the I am head unit, I use radio player app and get FREE dab. Bargain.

They fitted the highway one to my black edition foc. Great wee unit, loving teamrockradio when I get a signal.

Teamrockradio is great on iPhone 5c played through the head unit ;)

Can I ask what DAB Ariel did they used?

The Pure Highway has an aerial that is attached to the passenger side windscreen. At least mine does!

Thanks Fred, how is the reception? Some people give differant results, just trying to gauge what sort of Ariel to get.

The Pure Highway is an add on to your current radio, you can set it to use one of the FM buttons or, as I do, connect it via the Aux socket. The reception is mostly good but there are some places in the UK (mainly hilly or mountainous) where there is no reception. The aerial makes a vast difference but most of the simple types don't have the facility to use another aerial.

There are some units available now that can be hidden away and use the existing aerial via a diplexer.

This is a good site to look for all thing mobile DAB; http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/

PS I think the Pure Highway is now discontinued.
