Is my aerial bust, and if so, how badly?

Featured Replies

Because my Skoda I manual says nothing about removing the aerial or how to do so, I've always left the thing on in car washes, and it has survived this fine for years. Not this time though. It came off and looks like this:

It doesn't look like a break, but then again it doesn't seem to push in easily either.

It doesn't look like the pictures I've found searching on the forum, which show long protruding screws, so is it bust? And if so in the aerial, or in the car?

Thanks in advance!

Judging by your photo I would say that the threaded insert has come out probably need a new aerial.

Looks like threads are destroyed, and assume aerial base threads are also destroyed.??

Sorry to be a bringer of bad/sad news but..

Found through hard experience when someone ripped out aerial stalk that it also destroyed threads inside aerial base.

Had to buy new aerial and base at just over the £40.00 mark from Skoda.

Easily replaced by dropping headlining down to gain access to aerial base and aerial cable connection, etc

Also looks to me like it's pulled the insert out of the base. Question: Is the car now leaking in water?

Might be possible to epoxy it back in. Otherwise, if you're determined to use a car wash, maybe invest in a shark's fin type.
