Charging / alternator issue

Featured Replies

Hi when I bought my Fabia I noticed it was not showing a battery light and it started lazy aswell. So I done a diagnostic and it come up with the load wire issue. So I got it on a ramp, cut the plug out that that was broken and directed it. I'm still having the same issue and know it's got cold it has gotten worse...... Any suggestions please?

Also the traction light comes on after 10 mins

We can't test your wiring for you, you have to find the problem, it'll be an internal break somewhere, it isn't always the plug.

if you need a alternator mail me

get a multi meter on the battery when the cars switched off and make sure its holding 12 volts.

Then start the car and test the voltage at the battery again it should be about 14 volts, if not theres a problem probably with the alternator.

Our Golf had a few issues which quickly turned out to be the alternator not charging, as the alternator failed during the journey we killed the battery getting home resulting in replacement battery and alternator.

my cable was broken on both sides of the connector!

Got to the bottom of the issue, my father is a vehicle electrician and has been for 25 years and had a look to find whoever had repaired the wires before us had put them the wrong way round, once swapped over its perfectly fine now cheers lads for the advice

Still sounds like load wire fault to me.
