Speed Cameras on Amundsen?

Featured Replies

Has anyone managed to get speed cameras working on their Amundsen.

I have downloaded the speed camera file (ASC) from pocket GPS World and converted it into a .db3 file but I cannot get the Amundsen to recognise the file via USB stick. When I go to POI download on the Amundsen screen it says there is no file to download. I have the up to date maps already installed.

Any suggestions?

Not really tried. I use Cam Sam + on my phone. Hook it up to a short usb lead plugged in to an adaptor via the 12 volt socket and it props the phone up. Sitting just forward of the phone holder thing in the cup holes. Set up the sound in settings for bluetooth HFP, and audible warnings are piped through the Amundsen. It's a great little app, at only a quid it's a bargain.

I cant get this to work on my 2014 Amundsen either!

I've got the latest maps.....thanks andyvee, I've followed the instructions and created the custom poi's without a problem, using an ASC file and 39*39 pixel images in PNG format.

If I put them on a usb stick, I get a message saying "No playable files found".

If I put them onto a memory card, I get a message saying "Software download", but then nothing happens.

I've tried going through all of the menus, have searched the POI categories but nothing is there. Also tried to force an update by going through the setup menu - system information - update software, but again nothing.

Which menu are you going into to get the poi download option?

I've also tried pressing and holding the car button, as someone suggested, but nothing happens.

The POI download option is in the Nav settings at the bottom I think. It gives the option to download from SD card or USB but then cannot find any files to download.

Looking at the map data it looks like the file extension maybe the problem as POI seem not to have a .db3 file extension.

I thought I'd look through all the nav menus? You couldn't tell me exactly where to look can you, please!

The DB3 files are used by the original RNS-510, I guess the file format is different the latest Amundsen and MQB Columbus.

On the Nav screen go into settings bottom right. Then its the bottom left button called poi download or something.

Will try that went I get back, and report back!

I suspect you may be wasting your time with db3 files. There are no files on the SD card with a db3 extension, and as there are already some pre-existing inbuilt poi's I suspect a different file type/extension is required.

Examination of the files on the SD card suggests that country specific information is held in PSF and DB file types. (There are some country specific PNG files but these are small and just hold imnages such as icons).  Looking at the complete file names I would hazard a further guess that poi's are held in the PSF file type.

Now PSF's are normally associated with ADOBE PHOTOSHOP but this may be a red herring.

You are searching for the eqivalent of the holy grail here.

Well I've double checked my menus and I don't have anything that would suggest being able to download poi's.

My menu within the nav, when the settings button has been pressed on the touch screen, only lists the following:

Left hand side:

  • Route options
  • Fuel options
  • Advanced setup
  • Import destinations

Right hand side:

  • Map
  • Nav. announcement
  • Manage memory
  • Version information

Any further advice/directions would gratefully be appreciated. :notme:

press 'import destinations' and it then asks you for the destination (sd, usb etc) and then searches for files to upload.

That's for importing contacts/addresses, I believe and not for poi's.
