Engine problems

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have just recently put the AFH 1400 16V polo engine in my felicia challenge car, when running the engine is only running on 2 cylinders, I have changed plugs, plug leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm, and nothing seems to have solved the problem I have also carried out compression check and all cylinders are at 210 220 PSI, my way of thinking that there would be a problem with the 1600 felicia ecu I have fitted could this be allowing to much fuel in and soaking the spark plugs in fuel as when removed after running the plugs that ain't firing are covered in fuel. The car is supposed to be out on the rac this Sunday and the entry is in and paid for could anybody givee some advice on what is going on, many thanks kyle

Which 2 cylinders aren't running?

1 and 3 are not firing.

That's very odd, try swapping a couple of the HT leads to different cylinders to check them, there is only one common igniton driver in th magnetti marelli 1av ecu. So it could be a problem with the distributor cap or rotor arm, check the cap is sat properly on the dizzy too.

Apologies, just re read the op, try when the engine is running try unplugging the fuel injectors on the cylinders that are not firing for about 5 seconds each and see if it springs into life when you re plug them.
