How about a tenner then mate, you pay the petrol for the switchover. .

Well sorted DC5 mate, seen it on CTRO for a while mate, thought that would have been long gone by now. Why do you think its not selling mate, i know the market is pretty slow at the moment(with CTRs anyway).

Paul :)

Out of interest, how much cash difference were yout thinking ?

Economy and running costs perhaps? Although 380 from a tank sounds reasonable, but how big is the tank? ;)

How regularly do they need servicing? Average service cost? Do they need to run on Super?

Maybe its a mixture of the questions above, that put people off. Even if costs aren't as steep as people would imagine, I think a lot of people immediately discount cars like this without getting the facts...

VERY GOOD POINT :)

Well service costs are about

I'm afraid that if I was to take your offer my life expectancy could drop dramatically, but nice car.

Plus i think the mpg could be a bit of an issue, and lets not forget the hike in insurance (if someone would insure me), and its out of warrenty so repair costs aswell. Infact who am i kidding i cant afford that car.

Still nice though!

actually insurance anit that bad my insurance was

Loved the DC2's and the DC5's are quality too.

Good luck mate

Just out of curiosity, what insurance group is a DC5? I know Manguish's DC2 was group 18. It was one hell of a car though.

  • Author

it's a group 20 most imports are :) but only cost me

DC5 as stated is group 20, thus mate it is more expensive to insure than a CTR. Its basically on par with insuring an EVO, there both group 20s.

Servcing on DC5/CTR are no more expensive than servicing on a Fabia VRS. I have been in a very similar situation, hence why i drive a Fabia VRS now.

I had the CTR and could push to 370miles per tank, which is excellent for the performance you get. However to get that kind of mileage out of a CTR/DC5 you have to drive like an old fud, and i mean staying clear of the magic VTEC.

Due to this i said to myself whats the bloody point in driving such a car when i am paranoid about fuel consumption, there is no point to it, you are not using or getting fun out of the car to the way it should be used. So now i am still getting a bit of performance and returning accpetable MPG to my present budget.

But for anyone to think a DC5 or CTR for that matter is an economical car, they are buying it for the wrong reason.. However buy an EVO then your talking serious cash, service bills are nearly three times more expensive than honda, couple that with fuel bills and its no life, unless your RICH. :)

Go diesel.

Paul

I would love to do a swap but don't think I can justify the extra spend yet... bl00dy lovely motor though. I'd definately be at the lower end of the MPG spectrum though - love that VTEC!

Good luck with the sale mate...

thanks :) yeah the 380 does include a few bursts hehe but not many but even still revs right up to the 6k revs still has loads of fun then if you want that extra power keep your foot down to 9k revs hehehe :)

Yeh mate, Honda's are most surely unbeatable, best thrill you will get from a motor IMO.

Been in a DC5 but never drove one, but from the passenger ride i had i was most impressed :) , it felt that little bit more sorted than the CTR.

I would have one now, just wish i could bloody afford it, and for anyone trying to make a choice between the teg/CTR/EVO/Scoob, my choice would be the EVO everyday, but being realistic the DC5 would be my 1st choice, because its the cheapest weapon track or B road your gona get
