Which shocks absorbers?

Featured Replies

Hey all, so my drivers side rear shock is leaking and now making a clunky noise! My mechanic had a look and he said - yea change it (we have an arrangement - I buy the bits and he installs them!)

Anyway, I can't decide

A ) If I should just replace both?

B ) Which ones?

So, I found a web site called www.carshockabsorbers.co.uk and it seems much cheaper than CEP or GSF. Anyone used them?

Secondly, I can't work out which ones I need?!

My car is a 2000 Fabia 1.4 16V. These are the ones on the website mentioned above and they look like this

However the ones on Car Euro Parts look like this.

And finally, I need new bump stops...on the shock absorber web site they have two (I imagine front and rear?) Which set do I need, top or bottom?

Sorry in advance for my noobian questions - not had to deal with shocks before!!

Thanks all  :sun:

Pic1 and pic2 are the same.

The ones in pic1 are compressed and that's how they're shipped :)

Always replace them in pairs.

Awesome thanks! :)

I ended up buying the Sachs absorbers and bump stops from Wanapart rather than VWspares as it ended up being £20.00 cheaper! Thanks for clarifying anyway, really appreciate it!

Can I ask where you git your bump stops from or for the link?

also more general question to the masses, I have a vrs guessing I need the ones which say 'for sports suspension'? On wannapart?
