16" Wheels and 312mm Brakes

Featured Replies

At the moment my Furbie vRS is on 17" rubber and I have the 312mm Brakes fitted. I am thinking about going back to 16" wheels, will they fit with the Bigger Brakes.....................Thanks Andy :)

Back to the standard alloys?

If so it's a definate yes, the brakes look even bigger behind 16's :)

Should be fine as the Octy vRS estate comes on 16"'s! :D

At the Moment my vRS wheels are on the wifes Silverline Estate I have been wondering for a while to put them back on the vRS just to see an Improvement in MPG

Also I have put some Falken tyres on my 17" wheels, 215/40/17 and I have desided the grip is Sh**e. Cheaper to buy 16" vRS wheels/tyres from someone on Briskoda. The wife keeps the 16" on her car I get some OE wheels for mine....Does that make sense??

Yep........On a run at a steady 65/70 I get about 46/47 which ain't bad I suppose. The Wheels are Quite heavy and I run on 215/40/17. I'm after some more OE 16" so the wife can keep 16" on her car...It looks pants with the OE 14" wheels

I keep a record of my mpg for every tank (I'm sad I know!) and when I changed from 15's to 18's on my Golf the MPG only dropped by about 2mpg.

The benefit in looks and handling well outweighs any loss in mpg, and the cost of buying a new set of wheels would also outweigh any benefit in mpg you get by going back to 16's I would have thought.

If any one out there has one OE alloy spare pleas let me know. Or willing to club together with 4 others who want one each?

My MPG has stayed exactly the same with 17's

Maybe you drove it faster with 17's on

But youve done more miles now which offsets it.. as a guide.. i can get a average of over 60mpg if on a run and very rarely get less than 47 even if im on a cross country jaunt (on track doenst count)
