My Yeti is straight

Featured Replies

I decided to get a full alignment check done on the Yeti today; never had it checked in the 11k+ miles since I bought it earlier this year, and experience tells me it helps to have everything setup properly when the roads start to get slippy in winter.

Pleased to find that everything was in tolerance, camber/caster/toe front & rear plus rear thrust angle; just had the front right toe adjusted very slightly to get it as close to ideal as possible for best tyre wear.

When I've shrunk the image size a bit, I'll add a photo of the printout in case it's of any interest...

Cost me £40 including adjustment, and it's a proper job on a Hunter Hawkeye alignment system - so a bit of a bargain really, when you consider my tyres are upwards of £120 apiece.

Place I use is Nottingham 4wheel Alignment services, Basford branch.

Printout attached....shows all the alignment info.

Might of of interest to some fellow nerds :)

The peace of mind to know that everything is in alignment is worth the 40 pound spent.

Nerd here! Coming from the generation in which suspension COULD be adjusted was interested in your post and printout. Can you tell me what 'thrust angle' is? Not that I'll worry about mine....

Are there any adjustments possible on Yeti apart from toe-in and thrust angle.

Garages who carry out this sort of check/adjustment are a bit like insurance/financial advisors - you need to have absolute trust or they can sell/tell you any old tosh!

Thrust angle: http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/thrust-angle/

The place that did this use pukka Hunter alignment gear; the settings for the car are taken from the database of the alignment computer, and you get a printout of the before/after settings, so there's no room for any old tosh - it's all there in black and white :)

Been going to this place for years, they're used by some pretty prestige dealers (local Porsche dealer for one) and are pretty good.

Thanks, read link on 'thrust angle' and am slightly more clued up.

I didn't mean that YOUR alignment people were in any way suspect but any of us looking for that expertise have difficulty in ensuring that our local place is competent.
