Valeo SMF torque limit?

Featured Replies

As per title can anyone help?

I'm currently running on standard clutch setup but it's knocking (getting worse) like a wild animal is trapped inside wanting to get out :/

I am mapped to 168bhp / 283lb (I'm not chasing anymore power)

I'm considering ECP valeo kit but can it handle these numbers?

Stick with a DMF flywheel, get yourself a SACHS item, will be upto the job aslong as the car isn't abused low down in the rev range.

As above, if your not goin for more power stick to a DMF, as the rattle from the gearbox caused by the SMF is terrible.

To answer your question, a single mass flywheel is just a solid steel flywheel, so they have no parts to wear out so can handle any bhp you chuck at them, thinking you are probably asking about the power the clutch can handle, not the flywheel? :)

i got a clutch and duelmass flywheel if intrested

Lol yeah that's what I ment isn't the eurocarparts valeo clutch a silent bit of kit so members report it to be?

Not sure tbh, who has used one?

I have read that Sachs/Helix make the gearbox rattle due to them being lightened, so if a Valeo SMF is similar weight to a DMF perhaps they are silent? :)

Valeo SMF isn't light, didn't weight both setups but I doubt there is a whole lot of difference between my Valeo kit and the standard DMF (on the 1.8T... diesel results may vary), not sure on noisy yet I haven't run the engine.

Iirc the lighter flywheels cause more rattles.

So really one needs a heavy duty SMF purely because of of its reliability over the DMF

I have a helix SMF! That rattle is annoying to say the least. But it's pretty reliable for the big power I run!

Hey,

When you say knocking, when does it happen? And where does the knocking come from if you were sat in the drivers seat?

The knocking happens in start up when the car is and is intermittent it goes away after a few minutes and don't really return after that

When I'm stood outside the Car I can hear it

I ment when car is cold it's present once warmed up / run it goes away
