hi well I have been looking round for a car cover to save me the job of scraping ice off and snow and to try stop ice forming on the body/paint.. does anyone know what size cover I will need large, extra large?
I have found some that specifically say its for an Octavia mk2 vrs but they are around £50 +
any help appreciated cheers

I tried one of these and it was a nightmare. The frost instead forms on the cover so removing it in the morning means it's stiff. Trying to fold/store it results in ice and snow all down your trousers.

Depending on where you dump it during the day means it is likely that by the time you come to place it back on the car in the evening it's still wet. The moisture ends up freezing so the cover clamps to the car and you still end up with frost on the glass.

The plastic hooks become brittle in the cold and break allowing the cover to flap about.

When you think it's going to be frosty overnight, but instead it rains or becomes windy then the cover just becomes a pain in the morning.

Any dirt on the car (likely this time of year) is ground into the paintwork by the sheet constantly rubbing over it during the night in even a slight breeze. The sheet then turns into a piece of high grit sandpaper.

I then experimented with a similar cover but one that just covers the windscreen, but it never fit properly as they are sold in small, medium or large, not bespoke for the various models. Tucking them into the doors or under the wipers isn't easy when trying to align it so that you get maximum coverage.

I gave up and reverted back to the 1 minute ritual of scraping the windscreen with the engine running.

I also made a mental note to ensure my next car has a heated windscreen.

I can't see the issue with ice takes me 10 seconds in a morning.

What I do and many disagree but I have never had a problem is fill a big bottle with cold water straight from the tap, take it to the car and pour it over the windscreen. One wipe with the wipers and your good to go :)

If the other windows are frozen then go sparingly with the water, ensuring of course all windows are de-iced so your view is not blocked.

I used this when I worked nights.

Folded it as best I could, then put it in either an IKEA or Bag For Life bag and put it in the boot. Then hung it somewhere to dry/defrost ready for putting on when at place of work. I also used a dehumidifier bag placed onthe dash as well.
