Autoexpress group test for Fabia mk3 v Polo v Corsa but no Fiesta.

Featured Replies

Is it the different tyres VW fit that always has roadtesters considering any Polo with the same components as a Fabia having a better ride?

PS. How do cars with the same engines ever come out with one being cheaper to run? Is it different service schedules or is it dealer servicing costs?

Interesting comments by the reviewer relating to "holding back" competition to VW?

Interesting,  Specially the cost of the extras, VW REALLY are ripping off their customers.

These roatesters really need taken into cars blindfolded and the cars gaffer taped inside to hide the identity and then asked to roadtest them, blind fold removed obviously . Others left blindfolded and asked about ride, comfort, space, noise etc. VW Already blinds then to the truth in many cases.

Similar test in this months What Car? mag' and the new Fabia came first ahead of the Polo and Corsa.

the one thing I notice on servicing costs is the polo only has variable service listed, so assuming 10k miles / year you will only need 1 service in 3 years, hence the difference I think

It will be interesting to see how the New Fabia come out against the New Vauxhall Viva, they look like being a bargain.

PS, strange how VW have engines built in the same factories with the same parts on different service schedules, because they are in the other Brands cars that they are the parent company of, something they often do.

The Viva will obviously be cheaper as it's a competitor to the Citygo not the Fabia. I doubt anyone who is after a car the size of the Fabia will be considering a Viva, a Corsa maybe or Polo or Fiesta.

I know they're going to be a 5 door but they're only getting one engine choice, a 75bhp petrol, again, just like the Citygo.

wonder if the new viva will be more reliable and rust less than the last one

and yes I do remember them, and a Hillman avenger, hillman imp

what next Ford going to bring out an all new Ford Anglia (scary thought)

Nothing wrong with a bit of retro ,you old bugger. Remember them well!

Parents had one of these when I was pre-primary school age - I remember being in it when the engine went on fire...

I'm going all misty-eyed with nostalgia!

Always had a soft spot for the Anglia -

Wouldn't have said no to one of these bad boys -

Well you old nostalgic buggers, I passed my test in one!!

Also did a paper round in a mates Dad's Imp.

Happy Days.

Good to enjoy all the Rust Buckets of the past- but it was very much hands on motoring - nuts and bolts. Skimming heads, bigger valves and all that!

Thanks for the memories Brian 69!

Pertaining to this thread, I am very disappointed that the All New Fabia  only just held par with the uplifted Polo.

Should have taken it to another higher level - hence the next jump for the New Polo, whenever.

As to smaller, lighter and 75bhp. I would prefer to bigger roomier with 59bhp and 2 grand more. Imagine 2 Vauxhalls for the same as 1 top of range 2015 110ps Fabia, who would have thought!!!

Ps still Viva, Anglias,Imps on the road, not sure their will be 2015 Fabia on the road in 2070.

I once threw up in the back of a Viva my Dad had as a hire car to go to Devon for Christmas when I was about 6.
