Superb Combi retractable boot cover busted

Featured Replies

Superb Combi retractable boot cover has stopped retracting with no spring tension.

Is this common and is there a simple fix?

I have one month left on secondhand warranty, dealer won't be happy to replace it - looks like it's about £200.

Thanks, folks.

Tough  - if it has warranty - use it ?

I know. Just that he's 230km away and I don't want the hassle. I'll get off my arse next week and email him.

230K from Dublin - now that WILL be a trip !

I remember driving to Cork several times, thinking just a quick 2 to 3 hour trip !!!

It is now - 2 Tolls on the motorway between Dublin and Cork though - €3.80 well spent compared to dealing with the old roads though. Strangely I notice when I cruise at the speed limit that the only cars that overtake are BMWs...

I see that failure of the spring tension is fairly common.  Anyone come up with a solution that doesn't involve a new load cover?

I tried opening it up and had no luck. Ended up reluctantly buying new one.
