Bluetooth 7P6 - phonebook corrupt on 2010 Blaupunkt Bolero

Featured Replies

I retrofitted OEM bluetooth today. Phone calls are working fine, streaming working OK when properly triggered (not hugely impressed that it doesn't auto-switch from other sources, as it negates the effectiveness for phone sat-nav instructions through the car speakers) but the real problem is the phone book entries all appear corrupted and are unusable. Search also not functioning. Tried multiple phones.

Car is an early 2010 FL Octavia Elegance, no MFSW, no Maxidot. Bluetooth module is 7P6 035 730 J. Bolero is 1Z0 035 156F Blaupunkt. Label states HW 009 SW 0053.

  • I actually ordered a 5K0 035 730 D and was sent the 7P6-J instead. Would the earlier 5K0-D module communicate with my early Bolero any better? I note that there is some conflicting information about the modules - I've seen comments stating that they are effectively the same, yet the Ross-tech wiki shows the 5K0-D would be UHV-High and the later 7P6 UHV-Standard. I can't find any reference to what this actually means though! Has anyone else got phonebook working correctly on a Blaupunkt Bolero? Which bluetooth module are you using?
  • If the 7P6/5K0 module is not going to make any difference, can I do anything to the Bolero - is there a FW update that will enable phonebook to work correctly, or is the only option to buy a later Delphi Bolero? If I did switch to another Bolero, would I lose any functionality - climate notifications, PDC etc - or start to suffer any problems/faults that only affect the Delphi unit?

The issue is with the Older Bolero

There may be an update available for the Bolero which overcomes this, but I'm not sure there is on the older units.

Switching to a newer unit won't effect PDC, climate display, etc. it'll still be there.

Many thanks Eddie, KBPhoto. Sounds like swapping the Bolero for a Delphi version may have to go on the to-do list. Not so bad if I can resell my own to someone with a pre-FL.

Just a few follow up questions then - if I buy a used Bolero eg from ebay or Briskoda and it doesn't come with a security code, how do I get my car to accept it? Will dealers generate the code, or refuse to do so because I can't show I am the original vehicle owner? Can it instead be set via VCDS, or alternatively do the merchants offering codes generated from the HU serial numbers actually calculate the correct one?

Must the Bolero be from an Octavia or are the units from Superb/Yeti etc the same, fitting in the same dash panel cutout?

And, once I have a compatible Bolero - is there any difference between the 5K0 035 730 D I ordered and the 7P6 035 730 J I actually received?  At the moment I could legitimately return the 7P6 and get the correct replacement or a refund, but I'd need to do this sooner rather than later. Just thinking about the Ross-tech wiki designations, but if these are truly meaningless I'll stick with what I've got.

I can't answer about the Bolero but my understanding is that the BT units are equivalent.

Codes can be obtained on eBay for about £10.

Search on here for people who've done it to see which sellers are reputable.

7P6 is newer than the 5K0

and the J version is one of the newest ones.
