Squeek...

Featured Replies

Hi.. i have a 1.4 MPi 8v. 2002.

There is a squeeking noise coming from the front passengers side of the car like rubber on rubber squeeking when i go over bumps or change gear.. could this be the bushes?

And also car pulls very slightly to the left.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Dan.

Also advise which bushes to upgrade to.. if its the bushes.

Is that coming from the dashboard the squeak or is it more like a rattle?? Does it sound like its coming from outside the car or inside??

  • Author

Sounds like outside.. like dry rubber rubbing on more rubber if that makes sense?

Hmm wouldn't know then sorry about that quite new to skodas myself but have a little rattle from the dash so thought yours could of been that. Sorry

No worries.. im new to skoda too.

try the rubber bump stops under the bonnet.they can squeak like mad.from memory,(not that good!),they are somewhere near the bonnet hinges.  just grease them,or take them off.i think most fabias tend to pull to the left from what i've read.(mine does.)

Mine too. Tried everything to try and rectify it but no joy. It's only slight though.

Tracking??

Tracking??

It's spot on :p

The best fix for pulling to the left is 'blaming' the road's drainage gradient.  :rain: Also, you can check your front brakes ..for lazy pistons. Do you have excessive tire wear on the sides? Does it make any difference when in gear, neutral or when braking ?

Ill check the tyres later. Its when in gear, neutral and when braking.

ill also look at the bonnet bump stops.

Thanks.

I had this on mine. It started the day after I bought it !! A terrible squeaking noise when going round corners/ over speed bumps. Took 10 seconds to fix. remove dipstick, wet the end of your finger with motor oil and then apply to rubber stops on underneath of bonnet. Hey presto, jobs a good un .

Cheers ... will try that later!
