vRS replacement bulb question

Featured Replies

Ok, this is a really numpty question so I know i'm going to get flamed but here goes.... how the feck do you remove the bulbs from a MY14 vRS!!!

I've bought some new high power H7's for SWMBO's car as the original ones are cr4p, but for the life of me i an't get the old one out - it appears they need to be turned and then extracted but i can't get them to budge - am i being a wimp or am i missing something - and no HID advice thanks  ;)

You need to twist hard. Especially the first time.

Did she? Were you 'twisting' hard??

Poor girl.

As you have your hand on the back of the bulb turn it to the right, once out you have to remove the stupid black connector which can be a bit awkward

Cheers guys, clearly i'm not trying hard enough!

it does work, I skinned a few knuckles doing mine though ;)

Got to be the most awkward bulbs I've ever changed

You don't have to remove the black connector, it makes it slightly easier though. Once you know what the procedure is it is quite easy, although I have to admit it took me ages to do in a cold, dark Eurocarparts carpark!

Make sure you have the bulb in the right way up, else the locking pins don't twist properly. I spent a while cursing and skinning knuckles until I noticed they were in upside down and not flush.

Oh, and if you're going for the brighter "upgrade" bulbs, keep a spare pair in the boot as they don't last long and driving at night on LED sidelights is very dodgy. As the Fabia uses the same bulb for dipped and main beam when they blow you have no headlights at all.

You need to remove the black connector on the bulb when out and its a rite farce!

IMO just fit HID's as they'll last longer than halogen bulbs and miles brighter

Managed to do this finally yesterday. It was bl00dy fiddly and skinned knuckles on both hands! Good tip on keeping a spare set in the car - especially as i bought 2 sets by mistake  :envy:

Thanks for the advice guys.
