Facia panel remove

Featured Replies

I want to get access under the steering wheel so was trying to remove the facia panel to the right that sits round to the fuse box. took out the screws and eventually got the black plastic trim around the speedo off without breaking it.

Looked like everything that needed to make way was ok but the panel still feels really well held on where you can hopefully see in the pic or just above the arrow point

has anyone done this and found same? really doesnt want to budge and near breaking something point

Haynes doesnt point to anything there from what ive read!

hopefully im missing something...

Can't remember whether the master light switch has to be released or not - will check and come back to you.

Thanks buddy. i really appreciate it   but for the life of me i cant see why the bloody thing wont come out.I have the switches out of the panel and all the screws i can see. doesnt look like anything to do with the steering wheel could be the problem. maybe im just too tired right now.

will check it again in the morrow. can always drive to the garage and ask one of the lads nicely to gimme a hand. theyre a decent bunch and only 5 mins away

You did spot the screw in the switch hole?

My old man has one so would of been a handy swap to check if mine faulty. i can always ask the garage fella while hes pointing out my mistakes

What exactly is it your trying to do? You might have said and I've misunderstood in which case i apologise. If its the fuel pump relay your after I'm sure that can be removed from underneath the dash.

no need to apologise. I took the fuel pump relay out already as i had a bunch of fault codes and seems that might be the cause but on another issue i wanted to remove the facia panel to the right of the steering wheel. the one with the lights on switch in it.

Ive had problems with water in the drivers door and also saw water sitting in the rubber grommet between the door and the car which protevcts the wires. thought this water could easily run down those wires and into the general area of the relay plate. im not sure where the wires from the door actually finish up or connect in so wanted to get the facia panel off so i could have a good look in there for corrosion etc.

ive removed all the screws i can find but the panel still feels well held on ( where the arrow points in the pic i linked in post1)

sorry if i didnt explain it clearly earlier

No you will have done buddy just ignore me too many nightshifts!! I've never had that panel off so i cant help.

Theres screws in the fuse box area, along the underside of that panel and i think theres one behind the plastic trim that holds the light switches. On your pic youve removed the switches but not the trim.

100% spot on buddy. Great stuff thanks a mil!

Was one last screw behind the black plastic trim around the lights switch, not mentioned in Haynes either!

Does the CCU under there click like a relay when you operate stuff like the central lock.mine does anyway.

Another thing I always wondered about is if I open the car and sit in but don't put the key in or turn electrics on the central locking activates all by itself after about 10 secs.real pain in the azz. I have an after market alarm fitted by previous owner and think it's down to that or maybe a fault!?!

Usually that's the first sign your door microswitches are not telling the system you've opened the door
