Hi All,

My usual key has started playing up. I can lock the car with the fob but the led doesn't flash but it won't open the car with the fob. I can open using the key and quickly turn the ignition on to stop the alarm sounding. I changed the battery just in case this was the issue but no change. Could the led have failed if so what options do I have.

I recently posted (maybe a couple of months ago) that my fob had stopped working and I had to use the key manually in the lock. Strange thing was, it started working again after an hour or so and has been fine since.

 

I put it down to me having the system set so that it self locks all the doors at around 10 mph and unlocks when the engine is turned off. I had my wife in the car with me and instead of waiting until I had stopped the engine she tried to open her door at exactly the same time as I turned off the engine and it seemed to confuse the system.

 

As I say it all corrected itself and has been fine ever since.

Unusual that a female should cause something that has been working fine to suddenly stop working. I stripped the fob and checked the switch and led were ok with a multi metre and tried another battery and everything appears fine. I reckon that it was a dud or weak battery so the moral is always get a quality fresh battery. Thanks for your suggestion
