Hi all,

As is so common on these, my octavia vrs had a water leak, so you know what that means...seats out, carpet out, find leak!

Ive sealed the grommet hole up by the polle filter as there was nothing there, ive sealed around the bonnet realease, and cleaned all the mud out of the wing and scuttle panel as shown below

Quite a pile of mud came out!

I thought that would have been enough work, but it is still leaking after pouring the hose pipe over the car for a while there is water coming in from what looks like behind the pedals on the driver side, behind a nut, as per picture below.

Does anyone know where on the engine side of the car this would be coming from?

the driver side front footwell is where the water seems to be coming from

Next problem...I replaced the cts on it a couple of weeks ago with the green one from skoda, as the temp gauge wasn't reading a steady 90 degrees, and the p1296 fault code came up. It still isn't, is this likely to be the  thermostat? It gets to 90 eventually, seems to take a while, but will drop down to 75 when it feels like it and back to 90 again.

next...the other day I stuck my foot down and at 3000 revs the car seemed to drop in power quite radically, like i had taken my foot off of the accelerator , in first and second gear. It does it occasionally, for no reason, not just when its hot or cold. Any ideas on that one?

I have an ODB reader not a vagcom and the only problem that came up was the p1296, which is no longer there after replacing the cts.

Any help is as always massively appreciated

Dan

Stuck stat or failing water pump impellor. Check that you have flow from the header tank return pipe. If that's ok replace the stat ( genuine VAG).

Check the scuttle panel drains plugs aren't blocked up.

VCDS needed as generic code readers don't recognise some VAG codes.

Yep the scuttle panel drains were cleaned out,  and i have no idea where to header tank return pipe is, but guessing the engine needs to be running to show if its working.

Anyone have any idea how much the stat is from Skoda...

I could actually just search that couldn't i...

Dan

Its about £15-20 for the stat.

The return pipe to the header tank is the skinny one near the top
