Vrs fog lights

Featured Replies

Has any one changed there fog lights / bulbs to anything other than oem?

I've got a cracked lense on one and so need to replace. I've just fitted hid's and enabled cornering lights but the standard bulb looks abit pants!

The use of the fog light is to help light-up the edge of the road in severe weather conditions - where visibility is greatly redduced.

The installation of "pure white" or LED bulbs will result in a decrease in effectiveness as the light will reflect off the fog and cause glare.

As severe weather is the only situation where you will be using front fog-lights, nobody is going to be able to see nor give a damn that they look "a bit pants" - leave them as they are.

Ok well I'm fully aware of when I can use my fog lights and tbh I don't use them.

It's more to do with the cornering function.

as you have a facelift you might be able to fit fabia LED units. not sure how the wiring would work though

That sounds interesting, wonder if any one on here has done so successfully?

No, but lots have asked though.

The last post is always along the line of "you'll have to be the first", and then the thread dies :D

I just replaced the original bulbs with yellow ones.

Only question I ask is can they it do they need to be coded? Will the can bus monitor the fogs?

Any good?

Any pics?

Yes CANBUS monitors the front fogs.

Yes replacing the standard fog light clusters with the OEM DRL clusters will flag a blown-bulb warning.

It is likely you'll need to fit resistors.

Mite just change the bulbs then if it's going to be a headache.

Any recommendations on bulbs?

Im sure you know....You will need HB4 bulbs

Would hid's not be a waste of time in cornering fogs, as they take about 2 seconds to flare up to full strength. Think LED's would be the way to go.

Coding issues?

yeah haha !

Evil.....,, lol

So what LEDs bulbs are the right ones?

Also how do you get to the back of the lamps?

Any good?

Any pics?

No good really, I only did it for the looks department :)

I believe you pull away the plastic trim around the fog and access the light that way.

Led bulbs will flag a bulb failure on the dash and I don't think you can code it out..

I mite get some white bulbs or blue then!

You wont see anything with blue coated bulbs

As previously stated I don't use my fogs, just looking for a visual look as they are used as cornering lights

Is it easy to change the fog light as the glass is cracked?
