How Long Do Coil Springs Last?.

Featured Replies

This time last year had to replace the original nearside front spring on a 9 year old fabia. Past week or so front nearside has been making a notice, took car to garage today and 12 more month old spring has broke. So springs last longer?. We moved into a house 18 months ago and reversing into the drive I sometimes miss judge and front nearside wheel goes over the raised kerb, could this be the reason for the coils going?

Cheap springs break easily, bumping up and down kerbs won't help.

I suggest you replace all the springs with a set of Eibachs, they are cheaper than a set of OEM springs and much better quality.

The garage is all ready on with the job. Do springs come with 12 month guarantee?

I imagine it depends which ones they buy, every spring I've bought has always had at least 1 year, a few makes have 2 or 3 years.

The garage  fitted a KYB RH2727 spring coil last February and today have fitted Lesjofors  4085709 spring. I asked if the spring was covered by a guarantee but no was the answer.

I do know that brand, I know a parts company I use, Andrew page, use them and give 12 month warranty.

This could be from the company and not the supplier I guess...

OEM replacement parts would have had a 2 year warranty.

Maybe next time might be best to go to the dealer.

I wouldn't go that far :D
