Headlights not working

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Looking for advice. Had a bulb warning come on and it was my front left dipped beam not working. Checked it and it had failed. Arrived home about 20 minutes later (it wasn't dark at the time) and then noticed I had a warning for my right dipped beam not working. It was working when I checked the front left. Is this a coincidence that they both failed together or is there something that could relate to both. I checked the fuses and they seemed ok, unless i missed any. Checked 42 in the cabin and a couple under the bonnet. I have a spare set of bulbs so will put them in when its delight again, but though i would post on here to seek advice before hand. The bulbs were both fitted at the same time.

Regards

Richie

It's not uncommon that if one lightbulb goes the other one goes as well because of the small change in voltage. Or at least that's the way it used to be before bus-lighting

As above, it's actually quite common for bulbs to fail in pairs.

This is why it is recommended to always replace in pairs too.

Turns out it was both bulbs, first time in 17 years driving I've known it to happen. Luckily I had my old ones to put back in. Just bought some Philips X-treme vision +130 to change to. Standard bulbs are terrible.

Good to hear. I'm thinking of changing over to Xenon. It's legal here on Iceland to change them even though you are using the normal housing and not the special one for Xenon.
