Oil pump

Featured Replies

I have. Friend with a Passat 2.0 diesel with about 70000 miles on it. The oil pump has drive has just gone and trashed the engine, looking on the forums this seems to be a known weak spot on VAG Engines.

Does anyone know if this has been rectified on the latest diesels.

My Passat had this done before I bought it (so I got it at 90k miles with a basically new engine)

It was originally only the earlier BKP engine codes from around 2006ish and was caused by the oil pump drive failing.

As far as I'm aware it hasn't been an issue since they went common rail

Balance shaft pump by the sounds of things. Very bad design and has since been changed.

it only affects the Passat and Superb MK1 2.0 PD TDi. (longitude mount engine) whereas every other VAG car have the newer transverse engines which do not have the problem.
