Gear stick trim 2004 - 2013?

Featured Replies

Bought a vRS 2011 last week and the gear stick trim is badly worn (not sure why as the car has only done a verified 15k miles).

Anyhow, I found replacement gear trim on eBay from silbury skoda which just stated 2004- very quick delivery.

I knew the interior was face lifted around 2009, but as the advert was non specific about the end year, I assumed it would fit (certainly looks the same in the illustration).

Now it's arrived, I've discovered it's a slightly different shape and, it doesn't fit. Having revisited eBay, with this new found knowledge, I'm still non the wiser how I would order one that would fit. I've been in touch with Silbury and given them my reg, so hopefully they can get me the right part, but.... how would I have avoided this mistake?

Not allowed to upload images yet, so can't clarify.

I think pre facelift and facelift are different, and also late facelift are different to early facelift.  Best way to be sure is to pop the insert off and look at the part number, or your dealers parts department can check it against your chassis number.

I was looking for a different style, if this one has worn out after only 15,000 miles, I would prefer a different type. The one I ordered was a chrome one.

Do you have a eBay link to the one you got?

Facelift af pre-facelift should be the same!

This is what I ordered,  I'd assumed the same. However, it doesn't fit. Silbury Skoda are being really good though and sending me the correct one, when they get this one back. Cost me an extra £3 in postage, but hey ho. You live and learn.

I'll post the correct part number for an '11 Octy vRS when I get it.

I believe their were 2 facelift interiors and 2011 is the last one? This is the one I have.

I have sent Silbury a pic of the gearstick and my reg plate so that they can send me the correct one.

Oh. Just saw the link again.

That chrome is only for the pre facelift. Dos not fit the facelift.

I thought it was the whole knob you wanted to changes.

Actually I don't think you can chance the the chromed detail on the facelifted version!

It pops out easy enough. Silbury think they have the right part.

I'll let you know when they send it.

Sorry to hijack ever so slightly............but would the FL gearknob fir a pre-FL octy? (not just the silver insert, but the whole knob itself)?? As the silver on mine has worn away, but i feel the FL lever looks much more in fitting with the car.
