horn not as loud as should be?

Featured Replies

Hi all

I own a 2004 1.9tdi fabia comfort

Its my 1st skoda so still getting used to its niggles

My ? Is should the horn work off both sides of steering wheel as it appears to only work drivers side.plus it sounds like a whining cat which isnt the greatest sound when telling someone your ****ed off for cutting them up

Ive had the horn out checked connection and all seems fine. So could it be connection behind steering wheel or just replace the horn? Anyone else had this prob

Cheers adam

Yes it should work on both sides of the steering wheel. The contacts are behind the airbag.

Never attempted this job before.

I have haynes manual

Is it easy enough job to do? Airbag sounds risky to me

Thanks for reply

No probs :)

Taking the air bag off isn't really a big deal. It's advisable to disconnect the battery but some people (such as me) don't bother. You have to release the two spring clips by inserting a screwdriver (or similar) into the holes at the back of the steering wheel, pull the airbag forward and then disconnect the airbag plug.

Ahh top man

I will investigate further

Sure may have seen a vid of this somewhere ☺

VW one but just the same.....

Releasing the spring clips can be a bit hit and miss, as the video shows.

Needs to be a bit more manly and threatening, going to try and fit a lorry one

I've found that the Fabia horn is quite a bit poncey been thinking about changing mine for something more manly aswell haha

Your horn might have some water in it. My best advise would be not to upgrade it or even bother checking the connections. Get a set of tracks ... with a big gun on them. It's the only thing that might work these days.
