Almost at the point of getting my Fabia vRS back together with the new turbocharger on, quick question though...

 

How do you turn the tdi engine over without it "firing", ie to build up the oil pressure and lube the turbo bearings up? In the good old petrol days you'd have disconected the fuel pump relay or pulled the main HT lead but on the PD engine??

 

Is there a way of unplugging the injector loom or am i thinking along the wrong lines?

I just disconnected the injector connector, at the gearbox end of the cylinder head. chunky one about 45mm diameter.

Not necessary, full oil pressure is only reached once the engine is actually running, then it happens almost instantly. Your new turbo will be absolutely fine, stop mucking about and turn the key!

Most new turbos come pre lubed or a syringe with then to fill them full of oil, mine did anyways.
