Orange peel

Featured Replies

How many owners have the orange peel paint effect on their octavias?

Not on mine (or any other Skoda I've owned).

A brand new car shouldn't be in need of wet sanding if it's only just been painted in the factory.  Orange peel suggests the lacquer might not have gone on right?   This is normal for a lot of new cars though but it just depends what kind of quality the expected paint finish is?  I can tell you from experience when polishing, Bentley paint is faaarrrr better quality than any VW/Skoda finish.

I would expect Bentley to be of superior quality even if owned by VAG. Personally I think skoda quality is a bit of a lottery.

A little. My paint is fairly poor to my eye. Good from far, but far from good...

Never had orange peel on any of my skoda's

Mine's OK but not perfect.  It's no better or worse than any other car I've owned in the last 20 years so is "as expected".

I think it depends is its a solid colour or a metallic to have orange peel or not. Personally I blame the man with the spray paint on the production line....

Since rover went out of business skoda gets the honours for orange peel perfection ;-)

What do juicy?

Not on mine. BTW I found Skoda's paint way better than my previous beemer's.

I find the paint on my vrs to be pretty good all over surface finish wise. And like you better than the mass of orange peel my last BMW I had!

A friend bought a new Corolla a few months ago and the orange peel is awful. Much worse than any Skoda I've seen.

It does seem that the metallic paint suffers less, maybe being premium they actually put more work into it.
