A few little questions i need answering

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have few little questions about the vRS which I would like answering.

Firstly, I have an annoying internal rattle coming from the L/H side. I have looked to see whether the glove box or the door card is rattle but cant work out which bit it is. Has anyone else had a rattle on that side of the car?

Secondly, I am looking to fit some come home lights. As I have the vRS with the black pack headlights, I am thinking of running a wire from the interior mirror through to the headlights so when the central lock button is pressed they light up. Has this been done before?

Finally, I have looked and have noticed that a few vRS have the badge above the side indicators like mine, but others don't. What is the significance of the sticker and do the newer ones have them on.

I don't have the answer to any of them but wanted to say that my monte carlo rattles in the same sort of area yours does and also rattles near the headlights switch and on the centre A/C unit, it's probably due to the low profile tyres and feeling every bump but it's starting to annoy me also.

The second point about turning your sidelights on when you unlock the car might be something to do with the actual software on the car, as in programing it instead of re-wiring it (i'm probably wrong but i'm just guessing), i'd also like to do that to my car so if anyone has the answer then will be happy to read it :)

The wing sticker is to do with Skoda's success in the Intercontinental Rally Championship, some Monte's had a similar thing across the inside of the rear window. Ours doesn't but another new Monte sold by our dealer at similar time does; a factory thing I suppose as to whether they get round to applying it, or have stock and if current.

Rattles then the top glove box lid is a favourite as there's no lock to hold it against its rubber stops and in our case the nsf door card was chattering against the inner door skin. Fixed it ourselves by removing the card and putting foam tape around the door along the line where the card edge makes contact. Had asked the dealer to look at it but they wanted us to sign an indemnity invoice for over £100 in case they felt that the chattering was our fault. Obviously we refused to sign so had to resort to DIY; makes you wonder why you have a warranty.

As far as I know you need to have automatic lights for the coming/leaving home lights to work, something to do with the sensor. I seem to remember that when trying to do mine via VCDS, I could be wrong though. Try posting/searching in the VCDS/diagnostics forum. Excuse my ignorance but how would running a wire from the mirror work? Everytime you opened the door or turned on the interior light or unlocked to let someone in the lights would come on, not just when unlocking. Do you mean leaving home lights? Lights that come on when you return to the car? Sorry if I have misunderstood.

try the top glove box for rattles, mine rattles from the top box..... "intercontinental rally champions" last 4 years now I believe!

The sticker adds circa 20bhp.
