Back Box Delete (mufflerectomy) TSI

Featured Replies

I've done a few searches there and haven't been able to find anything like this.

It's very common on the Fabia 1 forum for the guys to delete the back box and replace with a section of pipe between the remaining exhaust and the original tips for a little more exhaust note, not personally to my taste on a TDi.

It's also something that was common on the old Focus Mk1s as well.

So i was wondering if anyone had done this to theirs and what sort of results did it produce?

Obviously its not as expensive as a proper system, but may give the Octavia the little bit of exhaust note that its more expensive brothers in the Golf have.

In short im sick of my car sounding like a 1.6 haha.

Hi Gobsheene,

haha they're so quiet!

My brother has a mk5 GTI DSG, recently we removed the backbox and replaced it with a 2.75 pipe and a nice standard exhaust tip.

I'm thinking i'll do the same in January, should cost around 90 quid or so and just bolts on and off in about 15 min. His sounds pretty sweet - hopefully mine will too!

I've heard you can do a mid box delete which would make it sound better?
