Not too clued up on diesels tbh but I'm sure they use heater/glow plugs below a certain temp. It may be worth starting there first with the cold weather we've been having lately. After that its down to the fuel/fuel supply as in pump. Fuses might be worth checking first though as its the easiest thing to do.

When was the battery last replaced?

I ruled that out he mentioned it was cranking over ok.

I heard the starter needs to be a minimum rpm before the fuelling.ignition comes to life?

Only when warm. From cold fuel is injected straight away. Warm it needs to be doing 250rpm.

Well you learn something everyday!!

Is the glow plug light coming on when you switch on the ignition?

Does it sound a little different?, if so it could be that the anti shudder flap is stuck shut, blocking the air intake.

If the glow plug light does not light up when you turn ignition on.. try a 109 relay this is the ecu supply relay which also powers relay 103 which is the glow plug supply relay.

Also the other thing is that quite often the contacts on the relays and fuses might get a bit damp or corroded in the cold weather were having now, I had the same thing on my glow plug relay the other day, just popped it out of the relay holder cleaned the contacts and shoved it back in and it works again.
