Thanks!

Probly best to start off by checking the hoses, is there anyway to check if there is a boost leak?

Smoke test or a quick listen

Thanks. I will start to investigate and see if I can get anywhere.... *fingers crossed*

check the rubber hose from the black vacuum block on the inner wing to the turbo wastegate

whats your mileage?

another possibilty is air mass meter

Thanks for the tip! I will get the other half to check that out for me

Mileage is about 85 thousand on the clock! Need to get the timing belt done on it very soon!

Air mass meter?

the air mass meter is a sensor just after the air filter, it measures the volume of air going into the engine to allow the ECU to work out the exact amount of fuel required by the engine for the load

it works in conjunction with a air pressure and air temperature sensors on the outlet of the intercooler

you can get a recon air mass meter ( MAF sensor)  from skoda, their are other options, they are not cheap, about £100 for a recon and £300 for a new, so normally last thing to check

symptom of them going is normally get to about 2500-3000rpm  then loss of power / limp mode and flashing coil on dash,

problem with wastegate / turbo is similar but more dependant on amount of right foot applied

check the rubber pipe first as that is only about £30-£35 to fix, it is easier to see from under the car,

if it is a stuck / sticky waste gate on the turbo, some have used a "mr muscle" fix to clear the carbon build up and free the wastegate
