Low battery warning on maxidot

Featured Replies

Started the car this morning for the first time in 4 days and it started fine (no hesitation or long cranking) but I got a yellow/orange icon on the maxidot of a battery and a low battery message.

Ive got a dashcam with a power pro thingy which cuts the power when the battery gets to a preset voltage and this has worked as the camera was off when I got in the car.

Just wanted to know if anyone knew how low the battery has to get for the message to appear on the car as if it's dropped too low I'll adjust the dashcam to turn off sooner.

Do you also have a status under the start stop of high power draw?

I'd suggest changing the camera to an ignition switched live and see if it still happens.

If it carries on, you have the same issue I do!

No status now but not sure if there was earlier though. The camera been fitted for a few months now with no battery issues but this is the first time I've left the car unused for 4 days.

I'm certain it's just a matter of adjusting the voltage on the power unit to cut off a little earlier...just need to know what voltage that is.

I don't know whether or not the feature I have on my L&K is the same for all models but I can check the battery charge level quite easily.

Below the speedo and rev counter there is a bar which is used to re-set the mileage for a trip and the time but if this is held down for a few seconds a screen will show the time and a second or two later it will show the charge level of the battery. Actual details are on page 31 of the Octavia Owners Manual. Note that the ignition should be turned off for this procedure.

Yeah I think this works on any mk3 that has some form of maxidot.

It's about as accurate as a rubber tape measure too.

This. Mine said 0% charge once, the engine started first turn without any issues.

And on my first O3 it always said 80% regardless of if the car had been stood for days or if I had just done a 250 mile run!

In a year of ownership I only got 70, 80 or 90% displayed and I check it at least once a week.

I've only ever had 0% or 80%....
