was it easy ?

yeah man its easy. 3 bolts to take the dogbone out which are 16mm. Take the old bush out and use a vice to put the new one in. Make sure you put the copper slip on the bush to push it in.

Whats the purpose of the mod, what does it do?

Was it the Powerflex bush, Ant?

Did this mod to mine and still glad I did. I got it hoping it would stop the engine rock during gear changes.

yeah it's the power flex one.i got it when awesome did the Black Friday, so a cheap mod to do. It stops the engine rock when your giving it the beans on the kick down. No movement now.

I also did this to my mk1 fabia vrs, but that's another story.

Ant did the big hammer come out?

I've now gotten use to the vibrations from the petrol Powerflex bush and only occasionally feel it when at a stand still.

At first you could tell and I didn't know if I could put up with it but after a week or two of driving it settled and I guess soften slightly.

Inexpensive mod which improves the cars drive-ability and most likely improves performance times.

no just a normal hammer lol but I put it to one side then moved it across. That's how it came out. It took no longer than five minutes to get back in.

For those of us who aren't in the know, what are the advantages of this mod? What sort of cost?

Double post

Just a personal opinion.

But if you car runs fine, and you just drive it on the road,

do not bother wasting your time or money changing what is on the car already until you have need to.

If you have issues, more power, you feel at a disadvantage somehow, then it is a cheap mod.

Obviously there are down sides of doing it, but they are never mentioned really.

what are the downsides then? Please do tell me.

I've fitted this on Friday afternoon and the car feels loads better. like I said before there are NO vibration in the car.

The bush costs around £30 so not expensive. Can easily be fitted if you can get access to the underneath, I'm sure it's 1/2 - 1 hour work for a garage. Ant's done a couple now so he knows exactly what he's doing.

Unlike Ant I went for the Petrol version which uses a harder material than the diesel one since a diesel engine produces a lot more vibrations. The petrol comes in fast road and track, the track would be too hard of normal road driving as if the material is too harder the vibrations would be felt through the pedals and steering wheel and become unpleasant when driving. Since Ant's used the diesel one he's reporting no vibrations from fitting whereas for me it took a week or so to settle in, during this period I could feel the vibrations when stood still. I've found that I don't notice it anymore and more than happy with the car.

The upside is the engine has a better link to the rest of the car (I'm not a mechanic so I'm sure someone can explain better) so when putting your foot down it pulls smoother (I noticed the kickback is much smoother as I hated it before) and most likely the car accelerates quicker since there is less play. If you're seen the standard bush the center piece can rock by design since there are slots in it which most likely was intentional to give the driver a bigger feel of kickback and obviously reducing all vibrations.

I must say, when driving on the track and rpm's are always above 5k I do not have a problem with the mounts being wallowy. Traffic lights drag race then yes, a good mod :)

I have the petrol mount on mine it's loads better no more nasty engine rock and the vibration isn't bad
