Strange "Beep" on Octavia Mk2 2006

Featured Replies

Hi all,

We had a strange "beep" whilst in my fathers Octavia today - 1.9TDi Ambiente 56 reg - 2006. No warning lights, it didn't sound like a dashboard warning light, no lights on the dashboard. The sound was like one you would hear from a walkie talkie. No phones in the car etc made that sort of noise.

It appeared to come from the stereo. He doesn't have maxi-dot so wouldn't have the speed warning which is what I thought it might be.

We were listening to a CD at the time via the multi changer. He has the stream stereo.

It is a strange one, it happened about 6 times at different points on a 40 mile journey, when doing 60mph. We hadn't heard it before so I wondered if anyone had heard something similar!

Thanks in advance.

Does the octavia have an ice warning beep? More of a bong than a beep.

Usually when it drops below 4 or 5 degrees

Yep it does - we heard that one twice on the way back (travelling over the Welsh hills!). Didn't hear the other one we had which we are concerned about on the return journey and we only listened to the radio, so not the CD.

Possibly a noise with the CD changer? As I mentioned it sounded more like a noise when using a walkie talkie button, no walkie talkie in the car though! :S

Did you see any battery low signal, was that a deep' bong' sound?

My MK2 has a warning sound when battery is low also a appropriate message Is shown in the central display unit. ...

Thanks AkisVH. He didn't see any warning lights which was the odd thing and it didn't sound like a normal dash sound.

We have just been out in it this evening and no further noises (total of 30 miles). So it might just be one of those glitches!
