Fabia vRS Test Drive

Featured Replies

I took a Furby vRS out this morning for a test drive... and well what can i say....

Now I understand exactly why you love them so much, power is amazing, totally love the diesel style of driving to. Nice suspension set up over the standard fabia one... and wow brakes that work! Also the feel of the steering wheel being leather... ignorning seats it would of been nice to of seen a few more changes inside though... perhaps some ali dash or something over the standard dash.

I really can understand now the whole Octy/furby vRS thing now... Theres the "Fabia/Octavia" Classic - Elegance.... and then theres the vRS you really do feel as if you have something special... felt like a proper poser this morning! They really are separate cars to the whole range... love it

Pure respect to all vRS owners here... would be nice to see superb lined up in vRS spec as per thread other day.

Ah well bak to me old 12volts! (in joke!) Nice to of taken the chance for a test drive though

So you've decided on your next car then?? :D

As lovely as the vRS is the 12v's we are doing at the moment (around 500 1.2 HTP's for a Skoda contract) continually impress me.

So you've decided on your next car then?? :D

Love the Fabia to bits.... but got my heart set on getting a Defender next year and ripping the guts out of it and setting to work doing it up for the next X years!

However if i didnt do that the logical move up in the fabia range is straight to the vRS.

Good luck with the Landy. I used to do comp safari rallying with a few of my dads friends, great laugh and really good competition.

Good luck with the Landy.

Thanks, should be good... who knows... yellow defender could be on the books you'll be hearing from me if i do!

Yeah i've always had a thing for the defender and next i finish college so i'm take oppertunity to do it... iv so many plans for interior its not true! But everything is coming out!!

Before I got my vRS I had a 1999 Felicia Estate. It was in getting some body work done to it and the courtesy car I had was a 1.2 Classic Fabia.

It was brilliant in comparison to the Felicia and the engine was certainly quite impressive.

So, when my Felicia was done and I had to take the 1.2 back and was curious as to what the vRS would be like after being impressed by the Classic. I then proceeded to go for a test drive in one.

Fuc|< me it was quick. Absolutely loved the whole drive and was like :D all the time and :( when it was over.

After that I said sod it, I'm having one.

It's because of that 1.2 that I now have a Fabia vRS, and it is the best car I have ever driven let alone owned.

Must admit the 1.2 got me interested generally in Skoda, and in particular the Fabia, as a potential 'real' car for doing actual mileage in. I had a Citroen ZX 1.4, perfectly fine car, and as it was a bit older, no reliability problems. Only thing that was wrong with it was the parcel shelf clips were snapped off by the previous owner, so I had to bodge that. Eventually after 162k on the clock the earth strap failed and that wasnt spotted in time to prevent the ECU from getting damaged. Had to get rid of it.

My grandparents-in-law had older types of Skoda and they swapped over to the 1.2, I drove it a few times to help them out with something and was impressed. The vRS was the one I wanted mainly as it was a TD (PD ;)) and I needed a car that could take the kind of mileage I was thinking off for the new job. Near 19k now and it's been an excellent car so far, and with a bunch of stuff being gathered at the moment to improve on it a little more, I reckon the next 20k will be just as good if not better

What I like best about it is that you can drive it very, very relaxed and still be reasonably quick, drive it a little more like you 'should' and it is plenty fast and economical, or I hesitate to use the word 'trashing' it but let's say 'go for it mode' ;) and have a bit of fun :D It is just very flexible like that. In fairness, I have a feeling the Octy is very similar in that sense, I've not had the pleasure of properly testing the vRS versions of that, nor the slightly higher spec'd 1.9 / 2.0 PD lumps or the Octy II :(

I might even go for the 1.2 as a second car for SWMBO if the Rover 100 packs up :)
