For anyone who isn't sure about Snow Foam

Featured Replies

A busy day for me, as well as getting the focus done I managed to get the vRS done too! So I gave it a once over with the pressure washer and then applied Bilt Hambers Auto Foam. I let it dwell for 10 minutes or so while i washed the alloys. The next photo I took while removing the snow foam. Bare in mind that it had already had a going over with the pressure washer. I left a small area untouched. See if you can spot that area.

It pretty much cleaned the car. Great stuff!!! Car is protected by Angelwax Desireable.

Here she is all clean and tidy.

Definitely worth the money!

My only decision is usually which one to use as I've got 3 to choose from LOL. The thing that sells snowfoam (for me) is just how clean the water in both my shampoo and rinse buckets stays throughout the wash when I subsequently shampoo mine. To me that suggests the snowfoam is worth using, but as ever some may disagree but that's ok because they don't clean my car!

I've never seen it do anything like than when I've used it. Impressive though non the less

I think the protection from Angelwax must take some of the credit, but Autofoam is amazing. It's only the second foam I've used, but I've now been using it for years and will never change. I started on valetpro ph neutral, that foamed well but didn't clean. This doesn't produce a thick foam but is an extremely effective cleaner. Try it next, it will rock your world!

Ive always found VP ph neutral to be very effective & Car Chem

I used to have some Bilt Hamber a few years ago and found it very good

In those days, if it didnt Foam well, I thought it was ineffective...a wrong assumption

Thanks for the review...could be my next re purchase...

There are so many Snow Foams out there that foam and do nothing arnt there?

Nice to see one that actually works

I have found that mixing some Citrus Prewash with Snow Foam makes it much more effective, particularly at this time of year

Citrus pre wash won't be as lsp safe as Autofoam alone due to it being a traffic film remover. But from my view, it's better to remove as much dirt as possible to reduce wash induced marring. So if that means reducing the durability of the lsp a tad, then so be it.

Not a problem though if you top up with something like bsd after every wash!!

Thats right

I use a QD ......so some very slight affect to my LSP through theuse of Citrus is never a problem

If using it diluted to the correct strength with my sprayer, I use the prewash just on the lower areas of the car and regular snow foam afterwards

I find it very effective indeed in removing nasty salty dirt

Power Maxed TFR is all I use now through a pump sprayer. Tempted to try Auto Foam next though. Thanks for the review.

Great results as always pal. I'm with you on the wax front; I've only ever used Ultimate Snow Foam and find it very effective, but have found it most effective after recent applications of Collinite and BSD. On a protected vehicle, snow foam is well worth the effort for me.

I used to use clarks TFR, but it stripped off the lsp which sort of defeats the object unless you're prepared to apply a fresh one every time. I started using pf neutral SF after joining this forum and just use the tfr under the wheel arches now when its really dirty.

Ultimate was the first snowfoam I used, but I've since tried car chem (because it was on offer LOL) Autobrite magifoam (because I needed a new sf lance so got it as part of a group buy) but I use valet pro as my stock one as it seems to offer good performance at a decent price so It would be interesting to know what you find if you try something else.

I will try something else when I run out, the Ultimate stuff has always worked well though, better so on protected paintwork. I tend to go with recommendations on tried and tested products from friends of mine, so might try what Hunty recommends next.

Always a free sample of autofoam for you here brother. Can't beat a bit of "try before you buy!"

There are so many out there, as Chris said, some work and some not so much. When you find something that really works for you, why change. I've wasted a few quid but am starting to learn my lesson.

Power Maxed TFR is LSP safe diluted @ 1:10

I see little degradation with VP Citrus Pre Wash either...as Ade says...good to know what else works...we all have our trusted favourites don't we?

Of course we do. I was just adding another one into the mix. The auto foam looks impressive though and I will be buying it next.

I nearlly bought some BHAF before Xmas but was seduced by the cheap offer at AutoChem

I have used AD Magifoam since I got my lance. I am not sure if I'm that impressed with how effective it is (foam lance is super). May try something different once I have hot through the remaining 1.5L!

Could be while then..LOL

If BH is more effective, it will make a better Winter Snow Foam...Use the magifoam in the summer when theres no salt

Another magifoam user here, and have not had results anywhere near the above. Still foaming as an "every little helps" type step, will maybe give the bilt hamber stuff a crack on the next shopping list. Still have loads of magifoam left. Maybe it will be my summer snowfoam (oh god, what has this place turned me into)

how much citrus are you adding chris?

what sort of money would you expect to pay for this Ben? think I saw 5litres for about £18, does that sound about right?

Using the 1 litre bottle.......1" of Snow Foam and 1" of Citrus topped up with water

No idea what ratios...seems to work...I dont worry about those ...LOL

Autosmart magifoam is the one. Super thick. Incredibly good value, I use 3 pumps in a litre of water in the gun, the 3 pumps is probably about a cm at the bottom!

Cleans well too, I occasionally add some G101 if cars are heavily soiled.

I have found Magifoam to have no more cleaning power than most out there..tried a few dilution rates

It foams more than most but has not got the cleaning power ...so the user is under the impression that it works better

Lots of foam that dwells a long time does not equate to better cleaning power

My all rounder is VP pH neutral SF....Foams well, runs off well..... but cleans well too

On a very dirty car both dont fair well, but will loosen larger particles.....Thts where Bilt Hamber takes over ...or a mix with Citrus added as well

Dont forget that a well protected car with a good layer or two of wax or sealant will clean far better than an unprotected one

As Chris says above, what you want the foam to do is run off well and also not foam too much. The foam works by the bubbles in it popping on the cars surface which lifts the dirt. The effectiveness of the thickness of the foam is just in your head. Maybe try diluting it down a bit more.

It's all horses for courses. If it works for you then happy days.

What I like about bilt hamber is that there is no marketing ploys. They are chemists and they produce quality products at reasonable prices.
